CONCOURS  INTERNATIONAL DE  MUSIQUE SLAVE


The Third Stanislaw Moniuszko International Piano Competition of Slavic music will be  from the first to the seventh (1 to 7) of July 2010.

1. Admission 

The competition is open for pianists from 5 years old - up to 30 years old.

Students of any nationality may apply.

The candidates will be grouped in the following categories :

Wunderkind until 7 included
Cat. A     –   8 – 11
Cat. B      12 – 15
Cat. C     – 16 – 19
Cat. D     – 20 – 23
Masters  – 24 - 30

Ensembles ( 4 hands )

3. Procedures

Documents for inscriptions must be sent by e-mail no later than April 1, 2010 (Do not forget to join the receipt of payment) to : competitionmoniuszko@gmail.com

The Following documents are requested :

1. Completed and signed detailed Application Form and the Repertoire List, on the provided forms ( please name the composers, works with opuses, keys, duration of performance).
2. Certificate of Birth or Passport (page showing the applicant’s age) – copies.
3. The Music Diploma (copy) or the paper from a musical institution (for those continuining studies) ;
4. Recommendations from the musical institution or musician/s of acknowledged ; international standing, or of any concert company.
5. Brief CV detailing the applicant’s musical activity (education, teachers,awards at competitions and festivals, concerts and recording sessions). Please add published references if possible.
6. Two recent photos (13x18cm). The Organizing Committee will not return any documents.

The Bank transfer shall feature the name of the competitor.
The documents and participation fees shall not be returned.
Transfer fees shall be paid by the applicant.

4. Repertoires-All programmes for each category must be exclusively from slavic composers

(Belorussia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia,Ukraine…)

The competition will proceed in two stages :

- 1st round with DVDs.The candidates will be informed of the results of the first round by April 15 at the latest
- 2nd round –final in presence of the jury.The works recorded on DVD's are not to be repeated in the second round.

FIRST ROUND of Slav composers’music ( on DVD) :

20 minutes programme: One work by Tchaikovsky : "Les saisons" ; two etudes "e virtuoso", one by Chopin (except posthume)

Prokofiev– 4 etudes op.2 (except N° 2)

Lyapunov– 12 transcendental etudes

Duet for 4 hands:

One slav dance by Dvorak n° 8 op46; Rachmaninoff "Russian song"op11 n°3

All applicants will be notified by April 15, 2010 if they are accepted to perform in second round of the competition.

SECOND ROUND

Auditions

The competition is open to the general public.

All works are performed by heart.

During the competition participants shall perform strictly by order of drawing.

Each competitor will be allowed a 20-minute rehearsal (in the concert hall).

The Jury’s decisions are final.

The Jury is allowed to limit the participant if the stated time of the audition is exceeded or the result is clear to all the Jury members.
 
Winners shall take part in the Closing Concert and any other concerts organized by the Organizing Committee.

Broadcasting and audio/video recording and distribution rights
of the competition shall belong exclusively to the Organizing Committee.

The applicant is not allowed to make changes in the stated program and to perform works from the first round(DVD)

Cat. A  - 15-20 min. free programme.

Cat. B  - 25- 30 minutes. Compulsory : Moniuszko’s  « Spinning-wheel»,+free works,study, polyphony, cantilena.

Cat.C:The whole performance must not exceed 30 minutes. Compulsory : B.Smetana « Na bregu morskim »+ one polyphonic work + one study for example :

5. FINANCIAL REGULATIONS

The competitor covers every  expenses (two-way trip, accommodation, meals …)

The applicant is obliged inform the Organizing Committee on his arrival (date, train/flight).

Competitors from abroad are to obtain passports with French visas at their own expense. The Organizing Commitee shall provide an  Official Invitation for the competitor to get its visa from the French Embassy/Consulate.

6.General consideration :

The applicant is obliged inform the Organizing Committee on his arrival (date, train/flight).

The final round is open to the public.
All works are to be performed from memory.
All contenstants must be  present at the announcement of the finalists.
Finalists must be present at the awards ceremony on July 7.
